Start with your terminal, then decide
You do not need to book an excursion just to look around. Browse the port shopping and dining areas, or plan a waterfront walk in San Miguel if it makes sense from your berth. Food, drinks, purchases and transportation are separate costs.
Three terminals, different starting points
Punta Langosta is on San Miguel’s waterfront malecón, making downtown browsing a practical option from this terminal. Look around the shopping area, then decide how far to walk toward the town’s plaza and waterfront before returning.
Puerta Maya is south of San Miguel and has its own cruise-center shops and dining. The International Cruise Terminal (SSA) is another separate berth. Do not assume a downtown walking plan works equally well from every terminal; confirm your arrival point with the ship.
“Free to explore” means walking and browsing in permitted visitor areas. It does not include a restaurant meal, beach-club admission or a ride into town.

One paid beach-club option
Paradise Beach: a beach, pool & lunch plan

Check the package before leaving the ship
Paradise Beach currently advertises an all-inclusive option covering beach and pool access, loungers, and food and drinks from its included menu. Water activities and other extras may cost more. Its à la carte option is subject to availability and is not offered on sold-out days.
Check the official booking page for your date, party and inclusions. Compare the complete cost with taxis both ways; this guide does not quote a fixed admission price or guarantee walk-in access.
The operator describes taxi access from the cruise terminals. Agree on the total fare, currency and return pickup before traveling, and tell the driver your actual terminal. Do not plan around a single quoted journey time.

Choose one paid outing, not a packed itinerary
A beach club, a boat trip and an island excursion are different ways to spend the same port call. Compare inclusions and return arrangements before committing.
Beach clubs
Compare admission, food and drink allowances, seating, pool access and any extra activities. Paradise Beach is our firsthand example; other clubs need their own current access check.
Snorkeling, diving & excursions
Use your cruise line’s current Cozumel listings to compare outings for your sailing. For any water activity, check experience or certification requirements, equipment, weather policies and the meeting point directly with the provider.
Punta Sur Ecological Park
Cozumel Parks lists a paid ecological park with beach areas and the Celarain lighthouse. It requires a separate transport plan; check the day’s opening, admission and available activities with the park before setting out.
The tiers below are USD planning ceilings, not package prices or guaranteed offers. Include transport, admission, food and extras in your party’s total.
Under $100 · Start with a walk
Browse the port or downtown where practical, then decide whether a meal or ride fits your allowance. A beach-club day needs its own admission and transport quote; do not assume it fits this ceiling.
Under $500 · Compare one beach or activity day
Add up the day-pass price for your party, taxis in both directions and any excluded extras. Compare that total with an excursion before choosing.
Under $1,000 · Check the group total
For a group or private outing, verify passenger numbers, equipment, admission and transfers in the written quote. Keep the return journey within the ship’s schedule.
$1,000+ · Spend only where it adds value
A short port call does not require a premium package. For a private boat or customized excursion, check the operator, cancellation terms and full inclusions before booking.
Before you go ashore
Keep the return to your ship simple
- Confirm the terminal. Keep the exact pier name with your ship’s details, including for the return taxi.
- Follow ship time. Check arrival and all-aboard instructions rather than assuming local time and ship time match.
- Allow time both ways. Include the walk through the terminal, taxi arrangements, traffic and any activity delays. Choose a return buffer appropriate to your sailing.
- Check conditions and inclusions. Weather and sea conditions can change activities. Follow current instructions and verify cancellation terms before paying.
